Joey B. was always a fan of music. Being a 80s baby and growing up in a Trinidadian household he had a special liking for the Calypso and Reggae vinyls his father would play on evenings. Peeking at album covers of the different artists as their songs played helped him become familiar and more interested in the role of a Disc Jockey. His older brother would bring home dancehall cassettes of soundsystems like King Waggy-T, Bodyguard and Afrique to name a few and they were accessible for his listening ears. 13 years old at the time and wanting to emulate what he heard on the cassettes he began hanging around family friends who had a dj console and a couple of speakers for parties. Joey began "MC-ing" and mixing records at different functions with friends and fell in love with the art quickly.
